Cake Theme
A group of us were having an afternoon gab session over coffee and the conversation turned to birthdays, specifically men’s birthdays. Before long there were ideas flowing like a river downstream. One idea was to decorate the top of a cake like an “armchair quarterback”, something nearly every woman in the room had witnessed in her own livingroom. We decided that all of our husbands, at least the football fanatics, would love that theme.
Another suggestion was to decorate the cake with a backyard bar-b-que theme. The ladies whose husbands were backyard chefs were delighted with that idea and knew their husbands would be very flattered by it as well.
“My husband would have to have a cake covered in chocolate,” one of the ladies stated. Another responded, “You’re so creative, you could put all kinds of fancy chocolate curls and swirls on it and he’d go crazy !”
That left one of our lady friends feeling a little left out. Her husband wasn’t into sports all that much, he wouldn’t touch an outdoor grill with a ten foot bar-b-que fork and he was allergic to chocolate. It was obvious to all of us who knew him that his cake would have to be decorated with something silly. “How about clowns?” one of them asked. At that, she beamed from ear to ear. “He’d love it !” she exclaimed. Her husband prided himself in being the life of the party and could definitely be classified as a full-blown clown.
Regardless what you top the cake with, the important thing is to celebrate the special person you love. Going to a little extra effort to make their day special, shows that love in a very genuine way.
