Cream pie recipes like this Banana Delight really hit the spot after a meal.
Ingredients:
1 pkg. Vanilla Instant Pudding and Pie Filling (6-serving size), or make pudding from scratch
2 1/4 cups milk
1 1/2 bananas
1/2 cup thawed Cool Whip Topping
9″ graham cracker pie shell ( or cooled baked shell if you prefer)
Prepare pudding with milk, then reserve 1 cup of the filling. Pour a thin layer of the remaining filling into pie shell. Slice 1 1/2 bananas and arrange on filling. Top with the rest of the filling, (not the reserved 1 cup). Blend Cool Whip with the reserved filling and spread over the filling in pie crust. Chill for 3 hours. Garnish as desired.
Garnish ideas: Sprinkle shredded cheddar cheese on top just before serving; put a dollop of whipped cream on each slice of pie; crush oreo cookies and sprinkle on top of pie just before it is served; sprinkle crushed nuts on top.
Note: Bananas are harvested when they are green. If you store them at room temperature, they ripen in just a few days. If you want to speed the ripening process, put them in a paper bag with an apple.
