Fiesta Set

Frederick Hurton Rhead was a famous ceramics artist and went to work for the Homer Laughlin China Company in 1927. He introduced the Fiesta dinnerware line of china in 1936.
The Homer Laughlin China Company began in East Liverpool, Ohio in 1871, but moved its headquarters to Newell, West Virginia in 1907, where it remains today.
Fiesta dinnerware comes in bright, vivid, bold colors of red, green, yellow, purple, blue and more. They are fun to mix and match, including the bright and colorful Fiesta linens that match the dinnerware.
There are multitudes of serious Fiesta dinnerware collectors all over the world who scour antique shops and flea markets in an effort to find the pieces they need; it’s a thrilling obsession. Prices for individual pieces can vary according to how rare or plentiful they are. Certain colors may also be harder to find as they are retired, but new colors are available as well.
Fiesta’s bright colors can create a joyous atmosphere, especially when displayed with a variety of vivid hues. Red tends to excite and warm the body; orange can stimulate your appetite; green tends to have a calming effect; blue also has a calming effect as well as a cooling one; yellow tends to stimulate memory. So when a combination of Fiesta dinnerware colors are displayed on a dining room table, it can arouse a host of joyous feelings.
When I serve guests in our home, I’ve noticed a completely different reaction when varying the dinnerware. Paper plates, which are used only on very rare occasions, generally get no reaction from guests. However, when I use our good china, people comment that it makes them feel special and more important. Don’t ever take for granted that using nice dinnerware goes unnoticed. Even if not one person made a comment, I can assure you they noticed in a positive way. Please don’t reserve the star treatment only for guests. It’s a nice way to surprise your family occasionally by serving their meal on the good china. It’s also a nice little pick-me-up to serve your own dinner on fine china when you’re home alone. Add some soft music and I’ll bet your food will taste even better. You are special, so pamper yourself occasionally.
