___nowyourecooking.net review:
I’ve owned a KitchenAid mixer for over 20 years and it works like it was brand new. Of all my cooking equipment this is one item I’d be lost without. My only complaint with it was the fact that it is so heavy. My cousin visited from New Mexico and gave me such a simple solution – I wondered why I never thought of it. He took me to Wal-Mart and purchased a package of Mainstays Flexible Cutting Mats (3-pack). They measure 12″ W x 15″ L and are very thin but strong. He placed one mat on the counter top and set the KitchenAid mixer on top of it. I can now pull the mat with two fingers and it slides across the counter with ease. Problem solved.
All of the accessories can be washed in the dishwasher and I wipe the mixer body with a damp dishcloth, dry it and it looks like new. I have a hand mixer but rarely use it because my arm gets tired from holding it.

KitchenAid K45SS Classic 250 Watts Stand Mixer -
Looking back, I wonder how I ever got along with my ancient hand mixer that was a “hand-me-down” on top of everything. My husband, being a practical type of guy, gave me this KitchenAid for Christmas about 8 years ago. It was a very appreciated gift, and one piece of cooking equipment that is used constantly.
I have always wondered why you cannot buy something that will last. No doubt you have purchased a kitchen product only to find out that in a couple of years it just does not work anymore. You will not have this problem with any Kitchen Aid Mixer.
Although there are newer versions with higher powered motors, this one just “keeps on running”, and will probably never wear out. My model comes in several pretty colors, white, dark blue, green, and red. I have the basic white.
It comes with several different beater attachments, a wisk type that is great for whipping creams, blending soft foods. I have found that this is one that gets used at least half of the time. The second attachment is for more solid products, or when you are adding flour or an equally dense substance. These attachments are easy to put on and take off with little if any effort. When you are ready to turn the mixer on, there is a locking device on the right side to make sure that it will not slip loose while operating.
Probably the greatest single use has been as our bread machine. I can whip up a loaf of my homemade french bread in about five minutes. If you would like the recipe here it is:
2 Cups warm water
1 Package yeast
1 T. Salt
5-6 Cups flour (your choice)
Combine the yeast with the warm water, and wait about ten minutes. Add salt. Add two cups of flour and mix until well combined. Switch to dough hook and gradually add remaining flour. Make sure to keep the dough workable, and not too dry. Remove from mixing bowl and let rest on floured area. Knead just enough to make into a nice round shape. Place in large lightly oiled bowl, cover, keep in a warm place. When it has doubled in size punch down, and let rise once more. After the second rising you are ready to shape into two or three long and narrow loaves on a cookie sheet. Make diagonal slices on the top, cover and let rise until at least double in size. Bake in preheated 425 degree oven for about 20 minutes. Take out, and eat with lots of butter. [Fat free bread without the butter.]
This has been a major use of our Kitchen Aid mixer, and never has let us down. My husband purchased the food grinder attachment for making our own ground deer meat. Again, this KitchenAid cooking equipment never let us down and did the job with total perfection.
If you are shopping for a mixer, you will never be unhappy with a Kitchen Aid regardless of the model.
___CR site review for Krups:
*** Question by Mike Certini: “Does anyone know the brand of a good ice cream maker. I purchased one in the past and the motor is very weak. I am now looking for a stronger maker.”
Answer by Lynn Bock: “I am assuming you are talking about the freezer bowl types and not the old fashioned salt/ice types. We have had good luck with a top brand Krups . We are on our second. The first lasted 5 years with regular use and eventually developed a leak in the freezer bowl which caused it to warp. Motor is still good, but won’t fit any newer model. The new one seems just as efficient and have had no trouble with the motor output, bought it last summer and has had regular use. When the time comes to replace I will look for the same brand.
___According to ConsumerReports.com :
*** Cuisinart is a perennial big player in the world of small appliances, though it is a relative newcomer in the mixers market. The company sells two models, a 5-quart and a 7-quart version, available in three colors.
___CR site review by James Hernandez on the Cuisinart coffee cooking equipment:
Okay, just so y’all know I am a coffee geekweenieafficianando….
If I want a HOT cup of joe, I break out my melitta coffee funnel, paper filter and a pot of water.
Now, the water is Verrryyy important. In fact, when I get a batch of Blue Mountain beans, I use bottled spring water (Evian or Fiji). Tap water is tolerable to me for an everyday work day, but when I want a good cup, the water has to be good.
The next most important thing is Cleanliness. It doesn’t matter what kind of coffee maker you buy, or how much you spend, you need to clean it REGULARLY. If you don’t, you might as well get a cheapie and throw it away every 10 pots. I toss all of the parts that I can into the dishwasher and flush out the coffee maker (following the manufactor’s guidelines).
Last, but not least! Use fresh ground beans. I try to grind mine right before I brew. I have a Cuisinart coffee grinder that stores the beans and grinds them using helical gears. The downside to the grinder is how loud it is. If the coffee doesn’t wake you up, the noise will. It is annoying, but for me, the quality is worth it.
I have a Cuisinart coffee maker that I use day to day, because I like the features on it. However, most coffee makers are decent at producing good brew. Just remember that coffee needs to imbibed, not left sitting in a pot.

___ConsumerSearch Review on Wusthof cooking equipment:
*** Wusthof’s Classic Knives were found to be the best kitchen knives reviewed – Cook’s Illustrated and Consumer Reports magazines do thorough testing of kitchen knives. Consumer Reports tests many more knives, but Cook’s Illustrated offers more extensive commentary. We found additional professional reviews at Fine Cooking and Choice magazines. Owner reviews at Amazon.com are extremely positive but worth a look.
Wüsthof’s top-of-the-line high-carbon steel kitchen knives are rated the best or close to it in every credible review we saw. They are heavy and well-balanced, reviews say, but the grips vary by line, and the comfort level may vary. Choice magazine says male testers found the Classic’s handles thin. The Wüsthof Classic’s handle is polypropylene riveted to the metal within. Other handle options include the Grand Prix II (polypropylene molded to the metal) and the Culinar, which is all stainless steel but not universally liked in reviews. The blades on all three are highly resistant to stains. User reviews are complimentary to an almost-bizarre degree. If you want to spend less, reviews say RH Forschner by Victorinox Fibrox (*est. $60 for three) knives are an excellent value, although these knives are stamped from a sheet of metal rather than forged.

Using the Giro dial to adjust beverage volume, it is easier than ever before to customize and brew gourmet coffee drinks at home. Designed with modern form and function, the Odea Giro makes a statement in both style and flavor.
Main Features:
Rapid Steam: Rapid Steam® technology reduces the normal waiting time between coffee brewing and steam output to just a few seconds, so you can froth milk to make cappuccinos, lattes, and macchiato coffee at the simple turn of the steam knob.
Ceramic Grinder: For perfect-tasting coffee every time. The ceramic grinder is Saeco’s most recent innovation, available in all new models of the Saeco range of automatic coffee machines. Ceramic is inert, and thus ensures the best results without altering the flavor of the coffee. Moreover, it is perfectly safe to use. The new ceramic grinder also provides a more consistent grind, allowing perfect dosing and blending, and giving you more control over the density and body of your coffee. And that’s not all – the amount of coffee residue left in the cup is substantially reduced. Long-lasting, minimum noise! Thanks to its sturdy build, the ceramic coffee grinder will quietly grind to the same consistency and high standards for a longer period of time.
