Colorado is known as The Centennial State because, in 1876 it became a state. That was one hundred years after the original signing of the Declaration of Independence in the United States.

Since we’ve had friends and relatives there for at least 30 years, we’ve spent more time visiting Colorado than any other state. In the beginning, if you lose your sense of direction, just look to the mountains and you’ll know that is West. On more than one occasion that helped us get our bearings.

Colorado Springs features Pikes Peak; Grand Junction is the Gateway to Western Colorado and Bastrop is the Heart of Colorado. The capital is Denver which features the Denver Broncos and the Denver Nuggets. Many other sports teams have followings as well, like the Colorado Buffaloes, the Colorado Avalanche and many more.

Some of my fondest memories are of the times we went to the fabulous restaurants in different areas of Colorado. Some Colorado foods you may want to try are Colorado Cracked Wheat Organic Bread topped with Elk summer sausage from Colorado Elk and Game Meats, or try some delicious Colorado Raw Yellow Clover Honey on your toast or dinner rolls. Telluride, Colorado features Belgian Chocolate Truffles for a sweet treat at the end of a meal.

My scariest memory of Colorado was when I rode with some friends and relatives to an undisclosed location, which ended up to be an amusement park with a “big old scarey roller coaster”. I know there are many of you laughing right now because you love roller coasters, but I’ve never had any desire to ride on one, and this day was no different. Once they realized I wasn’t going to go willingly, one of the guys literally picked me up and strapped me in. If I remember correctly, there was a guy on each side of me . . .I could be wrong about that because I think I went numb as soon as it began to move. One memory I have is wondering where in the heck the tracks went, then saying, “Oh there they are!” then seeing them disappear again. It was all a big scarey blur and I’ve had no desire to repeat it. I leave that to all you dare devils out there. When I want some spice in my life, I’ll use my wonderful selection of spices from the Colorado Spice Company, and have both feet planted firmly on the ground.
